Martha Coakley Announces Run for Governor

Pledging to improve our schools and continue to build an economy where everyone has the opportunity to lift themselves up, Martha Coakley announced that she is running for Governor of Massachusetts.

A native of Berkshire County, Coakley charted a career as a distinguished prosecutor before serving as Middlesex District Attorney and now as the Commonwealth’s first female Attorney General.

Also in the Governor’s race are Democrats Joseph Avellone a former Chairman of the Wellesley Board of Selectman; Donald Berwick, former Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; current state Treasurer Steve Grossman; and Juliette Kayyem, columnist, lecturer and former Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs in the Department of Homeland Security.

Charles Baker, who ran for Governor in 2010, is the only Republican candidate.
