House Turns Down Income and Sales Tax Cuts

House Democrats voted down a plan to roll back the state’s income and sales tax rates back to 5 percent over five years.
The amendment failed 35 to 118. The state’s income tax rate is 5.25 percent and its sales tax rate is 6.25 percent.
